About Amanda Creech

Amanda Creech is a MD-PhD Candidate at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She possess expertise in assay development, pcr, site directed mutagenesis, agarose gel electrophoresis, protein purification and 26 more skills. She is proficient in German. Colleagues describe her as "Ms. Creech was selected as a 2011 Summer Intern for my Molecular Genetics Development laboratory after an extensive application and interview process conducted at Genzyme. She was assigned a project by which she was expected to design a genetic assay for a gene of interest. She then was expected to through experimentation how robust her assay design was with regard to ease of use and the ability to identify variation within individuals. In order to accomplish this she had to complete training and demonstrate proficiency on a series of laboratory methods and standard operating procedures. She completed these tasks without problem and demonstrated that she could work within the laboratory setting in a safe and reliable manner. She kept a lab notebook to document her experiments and she complied with our data recording requirements. While here, she performed DNA extraction, Oligo Primer Design, PCR analysis, Gel Electrophoresis, Capillary DNA Sequencing, and conducted independent literature searches. She worked well with other members of my technical staff and provided technical support to them on an ad hoc basis when her schedule allowed. She was responsible for providing me with data and status updates during our weekly review meeting. She came to each meeting prepared and with proposals for next steps in many cases. She was not afraid to reach out to other members of the technical staff for guidance and they found her to be attentive and hard working. Amanda was able to finish her project on time and not only organized all of her data, but also prepared a technical development report. In fulfilling a program requirement, she prepared and gave a presentation on her project to my department as well as another presentation to the participants of the Summer Intern Program within Genzyme Science R&D. In 2012, she was again selected to return as a second year intern and wag assigned even greater responsibility within the lab and received a more complex project to work on. She applied her previous knowledge and experience to the tasks and was able successfully complete her work and presented her results at a Poster symposium at the end of the summer. I would wholeheartedly endorse her as valuable addition to a lab that values people with a strong work ethic and offers an environment that allows her to continue to develop new skills. She is well grounded in the basic techniques used most molecular genetics labs and would be an excellent addition to such groups."

Listed skills include Assay Development, Pcr, Site Directed Mutagenesis, Agarose Gel Electrophoresis, and 27 others.
