As the CEO of Servants Community Housing, I lead a dedicated team who are committed to living and working to the beat of a different drum. It is not 'us and them', we have house managers that live and breath community by being immersed in the life of the rooming houses. They live on site and create hospitable, safe, caring environments for the people often seen as 'complex' or 'too hard'. Servants has four rooming houses that provide accommodation for 96 marginalized and vulnerable single people on low income. Three of the houses include dinner in a communal dining room so that people do not have to eat alone. I have been leading this organization since 2017, after serving as the Operations Manager for six and a half years. With the experience of 15 years in the Northern Territory and studying and working in adult education, community development, and housing management and policy, I am passionate about creating communities for people who have no community, and empowering them to live with dignity and respect. I am also a Certified Housing Professional and a graduate of the Leadership Victoria Folio Program, where I developed my skills in facilitation, program management, and stakeholder engagement. I am committed to working with staff, volunteers, supporters, and partners to deliver safe, secure, and affordable housing solutions that promote social justice and inclusion.And... I'm passionate about cold water swimming, particularly in rivers. I've developed a love for the Birrarung (Yarra) and am growing my knowledge of how to care for her.
