At the end of September 2017 I retired from full-time employment with WMG and the University of Warwick. I retain links with WMG and undertake specific project work as requested.

I was the Secretary to the Board of Examiners for the MSc programmes, Moderator of the Post-experience Diploma programmes and Chaired of the Network Rail Board of Examiners (a programme which was run jointly with Warwick Business School).I was the author and custodian of WMG’s Academic Quality Framework.I was a member various University Boards and Committees.I have acted as External Examiner for PGT courses at other institutions. As Director of the Graduate School I initially acted as Deputy Chair of the Board of Graduate Studies and supported the PVC with responsibility for the Graduate School. Since changes in senior management as of June 2016 I Chaired the Board of Graduate Studies and had wider responsibilities for Graduate education across the University. I still maintained Departmental responsibility within WMG's Taught Postgraduate activities, though not as wide as previously.

I worked in an interdisciplinary team in collaboration with overseas specialists designing and implementing software packages to run on embedded, 6502 based microprocessor systems and Philips mini-computers. I had design responsibility for all mini-computer based applications. Assembler (P850 and 6502), Cobol and Basic programming languages were used in the course of this work. I was also responsible for the design and presentation of any customer training courses required for these products.

I designed and implemented software (using Assembler and Fortran languages) to control the operation of precision roundness and surface finish measurement instruments and to process the measurement data. I also worked as a Analog then Digital Electronics designer and carried out commissioning and servicing at customers' premises, both in England and Germany.

The post entailed research work towards my Ph.D. and undergraduate teaching in the laboratories and drawing office. The research investigated the practicality of using interferometry as a method of measuring radial and axial temperature distributions in an impinging hot gas jet. It involved extensive computer numerical analysis as well as an understanding of optics, thermodynamics, fluid flow and gas discharges
