About Amanda E.

Accomplished grant professional and tenured research administrator with 18 years' experience crafting successful grant proposals, overseeing sponsored programs, and guiding teams through the intricacies of grants, research, and compliance processes. My expertise extends across practice settings that include state agencies, non-profit organizations, universities, and academic medical centers. However, the pull of academic medicine and research is one I've never been able to ignore. Similarly, although I am a seasoned full lifecycle grants manager, I am most at home in Pre-Award. Extroverted and high-energy, I enjoy building strong relationships with clinical faculty, demystifying proposal development for reluctant newcomers, and bringing novel practice approaches to patients through sponsored funding. I have a strong track record of securing funding from corporate entities and foundations as well as from federal sponsors such as NSF, NIH (R-series), SAMHSA, USDA, HRSA, DOE, DOJ, DHS, DoD, and NSA and from state agencies in both CT and NY. In addition to my proficiency in grants management, I bring a research background with a focus on medicine and the health sciences. During my tenure at Jefferson College of Health Sciences, I developed and taught undergraduate courses in health sciences research and interprofessional education. I served on the Doctoral Student Research Advisory Committee; chaired the Internal Grant Review Committee; and served on the Executive Committee of the Research and Scholarship Council. I also sat on Carilion Clinic’s Research Merit Committee, the Nursing Research Advisory Board, and was an IRB Administrator for expedited and exempt human subjects research. I have co-authored independent research on standardizing performance metrics for grant professionals, published in peer-reviewed journals in my field, presented at national conferences, and delivered webinars to local chapters of GPA.Deeply passionate about nurturing the professional development of grant professionals and research administrators at all career stages, I designed and taught a comprehensive 10-week Grant Writing Certificate Program for nonprofits. I sit on GPA’s Professional Growth & Development Committee and am a member of the Advanced Practitioner Working Group. I have been a federal grant reviewer since 2015, underscoring my commitment to the continual improvement of the field.I hold a Bachelor’s in English (Writing) and Pre-Law, a Master’s of Research Administration (MRA), and have been a Certified Research Administrator (CRA) since 2019.
