As a parent aid volunteer worker I participate in weekly training, seminar groups and volunteer once a week. The parent aid program seeks to work with families that have been either court appointed or have requested the services of the program. These individuals are seen to struggle with the day to day duties of parenting. We seek to encourage parents to take a greater interest in their children's lives and work with them so that they develop the appropriate skills and knowledge in order to ensure their children are living within a safe and secure environment. By taking part in this program I hope to develop my experience and knowledge base within the children's welfare area so that I may pass that knowledge on to parents and individuals who require a helping hand when it comes to the safety and security of their children. .

From March 2010 till February 2013 I cared for P two girls and from February 2013 till December 2013 I cared for two boys. I provided secure care for the children that incorporated facilitating child focused interventions as required inclusive of family routines and behaviour management. I organised and implemented the children’s activities, play, nutritional needs and hygiene practices and made sure that all the children in my care were cared for in a safe and secure surroundings at all times that was conductive to the needs of a well maintained family environment.

My main roles and responsibilities include: training and recruitment of staff, Staff supervision, ensuring the residents are comfortable and their needs are taken, preparation, cooking and service of all food and drink ensuring guidelines and legislation are adhered to, cash handling and general duties.
