I started my media communications journey during my senior year in high school where I co-created a student-ran news program. I attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA and obtained my associate degree in Media Communication. I consider myself lucky getting into Broadcast Media with the limited knowledge and experience I had at the time, with being fresh out of high school and barely into my first semester of college. I am incredibly grateful to my first Production Manager that saw something in me and took a chance in hiring me. Currently, I am employed with Nexstar Media as a Technical Newscast Director, directing our hour-long 4pm and half hour 10pm Monday through Friday. I have experience that ranges from editing videos for the newscasts, running audio, controlling on-air graphics, controlling studio cameras and studio/floor management.Even after graduating high school I still helped with student AV productions, from teaching them how to light for plays and musicals, how to run audio and how to enhance the experience for fans at a Friday night football game.
