One of my strengths as an instructional coach is utilizing data to improve student achievement. "Without data you're just a person with an opinion" -anonymous. I have spent a significant amount of time building my background knowledge through reading, attending and presenting PD, and performing action research with colleagues to be able to understand the progression of literacy skills from kindergarten through 12th grade. As an instructional coach, I have learned that the key to student success is building the knowledge of our educators. I present to large groups, K-12, on a variety of areas, from building content knowledge in the teaching of reading and writing, to best practices in instruction. I also present to local school districts on CCSS and best practices. I have a passion for instructional coaching and have started action research on the power of the coach-principal partnership. Using work Cognitive Coaching, Peter DeWitt, Diane Sweeney, Joellen Killion, Jim Knight, Lucy West, Elena Aguilar, Jennifer Abrams, and others in the field, I have been honing my craft as an instructional coach and learning effective ways to make a deeper impact as an instructional coach. I have written Common Core curriculum and assessments from the ground up and have implemented it with teachers in grades K-8. Developing standards-based assessments and analyzing student data is key to my role. I co-teach, model lessons, and work closely with administration and school staff. I have a passion that drives me that cannot go unnoticed.
