Throughout my career I have worked in a variety roles, but what unites them is my passion for lifting up and supporting up other people.I currently work as a recreation and social support worker at a Community Gateway. My role primarily involves spending time with other people. Sometimes that looks like creating an artwork with a client to help them express themselves, other times it means cooking and sharing a meal together, while other times we get to explore the world together; enjoying a concert, being outdoors, shopping, going to a museum. No two days are the same. I say I have the greatest job in the world, and I honestly believe it. It is a privilege to share in the life of my clients. To listen, connect, engage. To find out what brings my clients joy, and to celebrate that joy with them.The world we live in says push ahead, strive, do and achieve more. But I’m learning that there is more joy in pacing myself, living as a kind, helpful and generous person. Celebrating the abilities and achievements of others brings me great joy and satisfaction in my work.
