About Amanda Hattie
I've worked in the education field since 2004. I was head camp counselor for the Girl Scouts during the summer. During my time as a counselor, I helped my junior counselors learn to develop our young scouts and teach them how to earn their badges and learn life experiences. When summer came to an end, I would go to childcare centers and help the head teachers develop our team. I would help with our scouts with basic skills, I was also able to mentor them in the use of the American sign language. I felt driven to substitute at an elementary school in Ludowici, GA. I worked in the school library with special needs children with high function autism. I was trusted by teachers to be in their classrooms when they needed to be absent and special needs children needed to feel safe. As the military spouse, I was selected by the Commander and have been a serving since 2015. During my time I have helped many families with welcoming them to the military base they are stationed at. I have helped around the base and the community. I have won several Major Command level awards and have addressed the Chief of Staff of the Air Force and a Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force on Exceptional Family Member Program Issues and featured in Air Force Times.I did have to take time off from work to be a stay-at-home wife to help my own son who has autism who has thrived under the care of the Patrick EFMP team. While I have been home, I became involved with our school system and being elected for two Parent Teacher Organization boards. The 2021-2022 school year I was the parent liaison for the elementary school PTO. I am now the middle school Vice President for the PTO for the 2022-2023 school year.
