Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant• Scope of practice includes acute and minor care, medical screening exams, and inpatient observation with significant autonomy in a large urban academic center emergency room with annual volume of approximately 85,000 patients.• Duties include taking histories, performing physical examinations, completing medical screening examinations, completing e-visits, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies (x- rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, EKGs, labs), performing procedures (wound care, suturing, incision and drainage, splinting, closed orthopedic reductions, tonometry, trephination, pelvic examinations), diagnosing disease and injury processes, formulating treatment plans, and consulting appropriate specialists and providers for patients of all ages.• Additional duties include facilitating student learning experiences, precepting undergraduate students and graduate physician assistant students, and acting as lead advanced practice provider for e-visits.• Documentation on EMR (Epic) and use of Dragon dictation software

Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant • Scope of practice included acute and minor care with significant autonomy in a community-based emergency room with annual volume of approximately 29,000 patients.• Additional duties included leading training classes for nursing staff and ED technicians on proper splinting technique, facilitating student learning experiences, and serving on the advanced practice provider committee. • Documentation on EMR (ED PulseCheck).

I did EKGs, splinted patients, drew blood, helped patients, one-to-one watches, and helped nurses. I also made calls for doctors and other staff members.

I helped with marketing campaigns. I also sampled chocolate milk and other products at different sporting events. I told people of the benefits of drinking milk.
