As a student mentor, I work one to one, in small groups and in the classroom, with pupils from Years 7 - 11 to raise their aspirations and educational achievements and serve as a role model and ambassador for higher education.This aim is achieved through fun, creative, aspiration-raising activities.My duties were to:-Welcome and build a good rapport with both students assigned to me, their teachers and Head of Year-Inform them of the wide range of possibilities available with a university degree and programs in place that will assist through their academic journey. -Provide them with a time table of a typical university student's daily schedule.-Take them on a tour of Swansea University-Assist them in the design of a poster for a school society and a device that eases the life of a student

Informing them on various career paths based on their subject of choice and educational requirements. These decisions are not only based of student's interest but also on financial capability and educational background and previous academic performance. -Personal and Social IssuesHelping them through emotional difficulties as a result of a dispute among friends, or family problems.Grief counselling as some of my students had parents who were Military personnel-Student RecordsOrganizing student records as they progress through the school year.Attending to students who experiencing academic difficulties and organizing sessions with their parents and teachers. Working closely with the administration in addressing infrastructural and curricular planning issues that may be affecting the performance of the students-Serving as a substitute teacher, invigilation and scoring of exam and test papers; recording and distribution of final term results.
