Michael Che & Colin Jost Present: New York After Dark

With 600 synagogues in North America and a home in Israel, USCJ is the largest network of Conservative Jews in the world. I intern with USCJ's Youth Organization, USY to mentor and staff 8th-12th graders within the Mizrach Region. Mizrach USY includes local chapters from Eastern Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia area, southern New Jersey, and Delaware. My primary responsibilities are to; help teens develop leadership skills, engage teens, staffing weekend-long conventions, a week-long camp, teaching classes at regional conventions, annually accompanying groups of high schoolers to week-long conventions in a different city each year (thus far, I have accompanied them to Chicago & Orlando), mentoring and helping newer, young alumni staff understand their transition from USYer to Staff while building my transitional skills to new roles, helping with logistics such as setting up and organizing materials. Through my two years of this internship, I developed skills to work with adolescents, other people my age as well as different age groups and have gained some incredible interpersonal connections as I've watched the teens emerge as leaders within their community.

With sometimes more than a hundred dogs boarding at the same time in addition to the daily day care dogs, much of working at What A Good Dog is not only working with the dogs, but learning a multitude of brilliant organizational methods to ensure every dog is accounted for, and receiving the proper care for that dogs needs. My primary responsibilities at What A Good Dog where I worked over college summers and home on breaks were; prepping each individual dogs personal food and feeding them, dishes, taking dogs on their scheduled activities (walks, swims, play time, etc.), ensuring every dogs run is clean and full of water, night shifts cleaning all the dogs runs with a multi-step cleaning method, as well as working with coworkers as a team to ensure every dog is being taken care of and accounted for. Additionally, developed incredible walkie talkie skills.
