As Technical Lead on equipment cleanliness the aim is to reduce the time from start-up to steady plant performance, reducing rework and promoting a quality approach, increasing confidence in meeting turnaround targets, establishing a controlled and repeatable turnaround process that achieves sustainable results and achieve premised reliability for run length.•As the Quality Lead on Equipment Cleanliness, my role involves creating a database of cleanliness flaws experienced in turnaround events that have led to delays in the shutdown or start-up process, and develop mitigations to avoid similar scenarios and optimize the overall process.•Develop quality management plans and key performance indices to be met during the preparation and execution phases of the Turnaround. •Develop procedures for various levels of cleanliness required for equipment statutory inspection and mechanical inspection. And, manage an audit team during the execution phases.

•Develop and maintain the Site Integrated Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) study Program with other Site Risk Studies, to balance the available resources within the Site. •HAZOP Studies are routine compliance with corporate process safety management system requirements for revalidation, project management requirements or management concerns in relation to process safety or operability issues.•Lead HAZOP Studies for various units within the Plant, which involves preparation for the study, i.e. arranging resources from various disciplines to participate in the study, prepare documentation upfront to be used in the study providing the description of the process, systems and facilities to be studied and excluded, and set boundaries and interfaces. Facilitate the face to face studies and prepare the close out reports and agree the required actions with the respective action parties to close out any gaps in the process. •Participate in design/desktop reviews, HEMP LOPA studies and SIL reviews as a process safety engineer, by providing insight into technical and process hazard analysis by assisting to identify and understand the hazards posed by the processes involving highly hazardous chemicals.

•Technical support function for the Refinery storage and distribution facilities. This includes the road, rail and ship loading facilities.•Unit Monitoring and Process Optimization of the Crude Distillation Unit, involving embedding proactive monitoring systems to track unit performance to optimize throughputs, yields, improve energy efficiencies and refinery margins.•Develop mass and energy balances and process models to optimize unit performance •Lead technical investigations by analyzing performance and lab data, and develop mitigations and solutions to address the root cause. Optimize strategies with hands-on technical problem-solving of processes, environment, and potential material issues.•Participate in hazard and operability studies and various process safety risk reviews by supporting the studies as the Technical discipline lead on distillation.•Design and develop plant change requests to implement process modifications that will improve process unit performance in aid of Safety, Integrity and Margin.•Review and update Engineering flow diagrams and Process/Instrumentation diagrams with relevant modifications•Provide process support to Operations by troubleshooting process issues
