I've been working in health care, specifically medical imaging, for the last 14 years. I started out in retail pharmacy, where I learned to work with customers. Most of working in a retail pharmacy setting is ensuring you can work with customers to make sure their prescriptions are filled on time. I also learned a lot while working in the pharmacy about answering phones and having proper phone etiquette. Listening to people and working to solve problems are essential when working with the general public, but also while talking to doctor's offices for questions on prescriptions, and also talking to insurance companies. I also was able to learn how to keep track of inventory and order products to ensure that they were always available and that nothing had expired. While working in the pharmacy, I also went to school full time and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences, and an Associate's Degree in Radiology Technology. I also worked two jobs for my first two years in x-ray, because I also continued to work in the pharmacy at the same time. In x-ray, I've gained valuable experience in communicating with many different groups of people to ensure proper care of patients. Being able to manage high-stress situation when it is literally life and death definitely teaches you to make sure to pay attention to important details and to also prioritize starting with the most important thing. Since working in x-ray, I've become a Interventional Radiology Technologist. I work closely with physicians by scrubbing into surgery cases with them. This means that I have to be several steps ahead of them, and have things ready before they even ask for it. Constantly paying attention to fine details to ensure that nothing goes wrong with the case and with the patient. Within the last year, I've also started my own company with my husband. This has been so small feat since I'm also working full time and keeping up with a household. I do everything from taking care of customers, managing inventory, website design, graphic design, all product photos, social media, managing events, and developing all of our very own recipes. It has been extremely satisfying to see our small business continue to flourish, and I've learned so much and am constantly amazed with how far we've come in such a short amount of time. I work well with others, am very organized, work in a very timely manner, and have a great want to continue to keep growing and learning.
