Amanda completes safety inspections and audits for many companies in and around Kingston, Ontario. Few smaller or out of town companies can afford to hire a full-time safety professional, and Amanda realized the need for a local presence in the industry. Working mainly with construction companies, she has a strong reputation for knowledge and value in the industry. She attends professional development training and seminars to stay current and expand her knowledge.All Safety has provided training for school boards in Kingston, Napanee and Hasting County areas, training students who will complete co-op placements or are in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program as well as those in the Specialist High Skills Major program. One of Amanda’s intentions is that occupational health and safety courses will become part of the curriculum as a requirement for graduation. She feels that if high school students are trained,workplace safety would become ‘second nature’ to them in the workforce, and we will be closing in on that goal of zero accidents.All Safety will work with you to achieve a comprehensive health and safety program. We will assist in the implementation of your program by training staff and answering as many questions as it takes. • Performing construction site and safety inspections of all the operations and facilities.• Providing communication and documentation of the inspections carried out including suggesting necessary corrective measures.• Providing consultation and advice to the construction staff and assisting them to maintain a safe working environment to comply with safety regulations, practices and standards.• Assisting the superiors to enforce the safety policy and environmental health guidelines.• Training the construction staff on various health and safety topics.• Communicate effectively in both oral and written.• Establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with representatives from regulatory organizations.• Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach;• Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure;• Maintain and update as needed SOP’s for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day to day training.• Provide advice to ensure that effective EHS is implemented and working.• Perform and contribute to the Site Training Plans by conducting employee orientations; emergency response training when required.• Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected.• Develope Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures when required• Review accidents and incidents which occur in the area of responsibility and conduct field audits, reporting and managing the corrective actions.• Maintain filing systems regarding worker training and safety;• Maintain working relationships with Regulatory Agencies • Develop and implement Early return to work plans in accordance with abilities of the worker.
