About Amanda Marcucci
I am a senior at University of Wisconsin- La Crosse with a major in Public Health and Community Health Education along with a minor in Sociology. Through this I have been able to obtain many valuable experiences. These experiences have allowed me to share my passions within Public Health while also discovering new passions and goals. Some of my most recent experiences relate to my work done as a Peer Health Advocate where I work to educate the student body on dimensions of health. I have also been able to become the Service Chair for Eta Sigma Gamma, where I am in charge of providing service opportunities for our members and work with organizations to set up events. I also was asked to be apart of Great Rivers United Way Impact Grant to help conduct data analysis through surveys and focus groups. All of my recent experiences allow me to display my skills of facilitation, data analysis, communication, collaboration, and leadership. In addition, I am able to further advocate for my areas of interest within Public Health which include: Environmental Health, Physical Health, Mental Health, Substance use, and Health Equity. As I finish up my college career I plan to obtain my Certification in Health Education Specialist (CHES) through NCHEC. My goal is to end up in a position where I can be a voice for individuals of community that have health needs to be addressed. My purpose statement is to make a difference in the community by educating and advocating all areas of health based on the priority needs of the community.

I helped with various recycling programs- making sure all multi family homes had recycling provided and made educational flyers, frontier day festival food inspections, restaurant inspections, pool inspections, day care and senior living inspections. Along with many other experiences. I started the internship off by shadowing the health officers in various settings and then got to go out on my own for inspections.

I volunteer to help diminish the transmission of HIV. I help package kits with syringes, cottons, tins, ties, etc. to provide safe equipment for users. Eventually I'll help out with more of the services provided through Vivent health, but I'm helping to make a difference.

My main role is to look after the women in the sorority. I do monthly checkins to see if anyone needs support, people come talk to me if they're struggling or need help figuring out an issue. Another role I have is completing Social Event Planning, Prevention Plans, Emergency Check in Drills. I'll do paperwork involving events with alcohol, develop safety plans, present on topics like being an upstander, etc. My main role is keeping everyone safe.

I worked at the Gymnastics Shop when I'm home and I work with little kids ranging ages 2-12. I help them gain confidence, learn new skills, and to never give up when you're scared.
