About Amanda Melillo

I am currently an art educator with 18+ years of experience looking to utilize my unique combination of skills in a different way. I am a tenacious self-starter with a passion for organization, efficiency, and communication. The combination of my innate creativity and the skills I've learned as an educator are transferable to any industry that will allow me to satisfy my insatiable need to learn and understand anything new and innovative. I like to be challenged to find new and efficient ways of doing things. I am the ultimate team player, but am confident enough to step up and lead when necessary. Responsible for content to teach Art Foundations and Art 2, but am capable of teaching and creating for other classes. Currents class offerings include; Ceramics, Sculpture, Painting and Drawing, Crafts, Jewelry and Enameling, Art 3 and 4, and AP Studio Art, and Computer Art. Excellent relationship building with students. I have an innate sense of rapport building with my students that I am able to establish very quickly with a large number of my students. I maintain these relationships by staying actively involved in their school, lives beyond my classroom. Curriculum writing team for high school art. We have been working diligently to revamp our entire program in order to mainstream classes to make it easier for students to be successful throughout our programs while preparing them for their next steps. I make the skills, information, and processes we use transferable into other aspects of their lives as well as in other subject areas. Active in our school community in many different ways. I have been coaching our colorguard team that works alongside the marching band for about six years. Our practices are before and after school, and we participate in all football games and parades throughout the community. I have also been on our Building Forum Team; a group of teachers that meets with school administrators to keep our school climate running smoothly. I personally ran our art club for 5 years. I enjoy having the students work on large scale artworks that can be displayed to show the unity within the community of our school. Plan and deliver all lessons in a multitude of ways to reach all learners. Differentiating and scaffolding are important in art class too.
