Amanda Metzger is the Assistant Operations Manager of the EGAC. She graduated from Hiram College with a Bachelor's degree in Psychobiology, and has worked with various species in a research setting for over 15 years.

Perform supervisory duties for the Virus and Antibody Free (VAF) animal facility located in the Health Sciences Research Building (HSRB).Responsible for daily husbandry of VAF animal rooms. Manage rodent breeding colonies, which includes: setting up and monitoring breeder pairs, collection of tissue for genotyping, weaning pups, culling of undesired animals, and maintenance of animal colony records.Responsible for all ordering and billing activities for facility and managed breeding program. Perform training and orientation in VAF procedures for researchers and other staff members.Develop and assist in the development of facility SOP’s.

Responsible for the daily husbandry duties associated with the animals housed in assigned rooms--including monitoring health status, feeding and watering, changing of cages, and euthanasia. Maintained inventory of supplies and equipment in assigned animal rooms. Assisting Investigators with animal handling, restraint, or other tasks as needed.
