For the last couple of years, I've been deeply focused on a part of the product called "Tax Setup", which is responsible for collecting a wide variety of information that is required in order to run payroll and pay/file taxes compliantly. This involves both determining what to collect—hundreds of state & local agencies each have unique requirements—but also providing appropriate guidance and/or shortcuts so that customers know how to gather the needed information or provide us with authorization to gather it on their behalf.My day-to-day responsibilities shift fluidly between direct building, setting technical direction, mentoring other engineers, and aligning with product/design.
