A multi-media artist, Amanda loves experimenting with color and focuses much of her 2-D art on abstract "flow" arts, including fluid acrylic, alcohol ink, and spray paint. She also mixes her background in religious studies and art history into her art life through the creation of large-scale installations that center around liminal spaces like passages, windows, and entryways.Amanda also crafts movement as a flow dance performer and fire spinner! Dancing primarily to local, original music, Amanda fuses prop manipulation and circus traditions into an intricately woven audio and visual experience. Fiercely Serene Studios was founded as a repository for ALL of Amanda’s passions as she strives to find her own balance between the fierce and the serene.Fiercely Serene Studios has provided large-scale art, along with dance/circus fusion performances, for some of Cleveland's top festivals, including IngenuityFest, Brite Winter Festival, and FireFish Festival. Amanda also works directly with local venues for art and dance classes, and offers support for public and private events.In addition to Amanda's personal creative pursuits, she also works hard for the communities around her. As Managing Director of the local music initiative ListenCLE, Amanda builds opportunities for Cleveland performers through partnerships with Destination Cleveland, Assembly for the Arts, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland Public Library, Ingenuity Cleveland, and more. ListenCLE programming has helped placed local performers front and center for highlight national events including the 2021 NFL Draft, the 2021 Rock Hall Induction Week, and the 2022 NBA All-Star Weekend.Through her work at Ingenuity Cleveland, Amanda has also played a role in organizing the responsive Voices of CLE public art program, which helped to elevate and amplify voices from underrepresented communities through murals and other highly visible art opportunities.Amanda is also the Managing Director of Spontaneous Combustible Apparel, a local clothing company that seeks to raise awareness and funds for great causes through thoughtful merchandise. SCA's standout line featured a Cleveland Spiders logo idea created by Amanda's partner, Michael McFarland, as an alternative to the problematic traditional namesake of Cleveland's baseball club. More than 50% of company profits on the sales of Spiders gear was donated directly to local and national Indigenous organizations, including the Lake Erie Native American Council. SCA is currently looking for the next great cause to support.
