Implemented Healthy Footsteps, a program funded through the Welmark Foundation. Healthy Footsteps consisted of a two prong approach to reduce childhood obesity by increasing physical activity and improving nutrition in child care settings in Linn County Iowa. The two approaches consisted of NAP SAC (Nutrition and Physical Activity Self Assessment for Child-Care) and Color Me Healthy modules based out of the University of North Carolina.

Funded through the Wellmark Foundation, Healthy Footsteps is a partnership between Healthy Linn Care Network & Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) Healthy Footsteps supports child care centers in Linn County, Iowa to assess their physical activity and nutrition curriculum. This is done through NAP SACC (Nutrition and Physical Activity Self Assessment for Child Care) and CMH (Color Me Healthy) practice-based curriculum.Linn County Project Access is a specialty care referral network initiative created out of the fifteen in 5 community collaborative. We screen patients to insure they are not eligible for any other federal/state program, educate them on the appropriateness of the health care system, and help them create and maintain a health care provider-patient relationship. We also recruit health care providers to donate their time and talent to provide their services to qualifying individuals and maintain a relationship with them, the office staff and other key members of the community.

Performed data entry on statewide partner companies for cancer resources such as wigs, make up, and patient navigators for people who are diagnosed with cancer. Planned and carried out the 3rd Annual Corridor Classic golf tournament along with finding and interviewing survivors of cancer to interview. Each hole on the course we débuted a survivor’s story.
