Act with audacity." - Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin The quote above is advice from a woman who is rarely spoken about but the legacy she left behind is one of the world's most famous champagne houses, the one with the orange label, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin. I discovered her story during one of my semester's at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth and at the same token, I rediscovered my passion for management and business. I would never look at a bottle of Veuve Clicquot the same way when I waitress at the country club I currently work for. The tenacity of Barbe-Nicole as a widow in the 19th century with her building up and running a champagne house is one that motivates me to never give up and to find my passion. La Grande Dame’s passion was for champagne, and mine is creating a supportive environment to foster creative problem solving and to collaborate with others towards achieving a common goal. During one of my summers in college, I was fortunate enough to intern with the Coordinator of Financial Operations at the Emma Pendleton Bradley Hospital in Rhode Island. Here is where my passion for management and working with people blossomed as I was able to experience the management levels of a hospital system during budget season. This internship allowed me to grow and discover other interests in healthcare management and economics, which has motivated me to take on an economic minor. I hope to explore all opportunities that cross my path and learn new things along the way.
