I have ten years of full-time experience in the NGO/NPO sector and an additional five years of part-time, volunteer experience. I am passionate about justice and development work. Over the past five years I have specifically worked in the education sector, advocating for safe school infrastructure, and improvement in the quality of education for learners in rural communities. I have worked in rural, peri-urban, and township settings. Between 2012 and 2014 I founded and coordinated the Mphakatsi Community Centre in Mpumalanga. The small centre ran English literacy, basic medical and soccer skills development projects, aimed at building relationships and improving the lives of rural farm workers and their families. In 2015 I began my Articles of Clerkship at the Equal Education Law Centre (EELC) - a public interest litigation firm in Khayelitsha. At the EELC I was able to develop my other interests: constitutional law, human rights law and public interest law. From 2017 to June 2019 I headed the Eastern Cape office of mass membership based movement Equal Education, using activism, litigation, research and grassroots organising to fight for the realisation of the right to education.
