As an Associate Designer for Cato, I continue to perform the tasks that I did as an Assistant Designer, but I have become responsible for researching, designing, writing specs on, picking fabrics and filling out the bill of materials for, fitting, and presenting all of the details for Athleisure Bottoms. I continue to aid with Casual Knit Tops, Athleisure, and Sleepwear categories as well.

As an Assistant Designer for Cato, I have aided in the following categories: Casual Knit Tops, Dressy Knit Tops, Activewear/Athleisure, Sleepwear, Casual Woven Tops & Jackets, and Sweaters. My main responsibilities are:-To search for inspiration images and put together tear sheets.-Help with the creation of story boards and designing styles appropriate for the season.-Prepare documents, powerpoints, samples and styles for presentations.-Sketch those designs using Adobe Illustrator.-Fill the sketches with prints and colors using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. -Choose fabrics, trims, embellishments and details for each garment.-Create detailed "quick spec" sheets with measurements, call outs, and important information to relay construction and our outlook to the factory.-Fill out the Bill of Materials for each product.-Attend fit sessions.I am expected to share my opinion in the creative process, and have established trust with my designer and have been given the freedom to design certain styles, components, and even full garments on my own. I also use my technical experience to help with quick spec packages.

As an Assistant Technical Designer for the Dressy Team for Cato, I primarily assisted with knit bottoms. I also had the opportunity to become comfortable working with with knit and woven tops, as well as dresses. I prepared detailed drawings using Adobe Illustrator to help manufacturers and other designers understand the components of a garment. I was also responsible for taking accurate measurements of a garment and working with others in my department to determine the corrections needed to make that garment fit the CATO customer in a flattering way. Once these corrections were established I uploaded the information into the database and created image pages to thoroughly explain these steps to the vendor. In this position, I utilized my skill and eye for detail and design; precise, accurate presentation and illustration; and pattern making, among many others.

As a Freelance Technical Illustrator, I prepared detailed drawings using Adobe Illustrator to help manufacturers and other designers understand the components of a garment. In this position, I utilized my skill and eye for detail and design, and precise and accurate presentation and illustration.

At Red Onion I worked primarily as a server, answering questions about the food and the restaurant, and making sure that the customer had the best possible dining experience while they were visiting Red Onion.

During this internship I learned the basic duties and responsibilities of being a Maurices Store Manager. I developed and implemented tools and charts to help the store and staff perform on a higher level, learned how to follow a POV (Point Of View- floor plan) and lay out the store accordingly, created a schedule, lead an interview, had bi-weekly conference calls with representatives from corporate, and was involved in manager meetings, among many other things.
