I'm new to Linkedin so please bear with me while I add some flavour to my rather bare profile right now :)I am a psychologist mainly interested in the paid part-time work of children. I'm particularly interested in their work-related learning experiences from a developmental perspective. As an advocate for children's rights (particularly Articles 32 and 12 of the UNCRC), I am also interested in the UK legislative position that is laid to protect working children. I currently supervise two PhD students exploring different developmental aspects of combining part-time work and full-time study.Research-wise, I'm currently doing a lot of work around learning environments - in work and study and leisure/volunteering. For example, along with colleagues I am working on a photo-elicitation project looking at the teaching and learning workspaces of Higher Education staff and students during lockdown (see for example: https://research-portal.uws.ac.uk/en/publications/views-of-higher-education-at-home-lessons-learnt). Working with Physics colleagues at UWS, I am also working on a community-based learning project providing training opportunities for community volunteers on how to operate and interpret the data from thermal imagery, testing whether this framework could be used to look after historic buildings and objects looked after by communities and smaller organisations outwith the remit of Historic Scotland.Spare-time-wise I am a Trustee for a Heritage Society researching and caring for a ruined castle on the West Coast of Scotland and am mom-slave to 4 demanding but loveable cats.
