In my current role as a Volunteer Program Assistant I support the development of a successful volunteer program. I assist with the coordination of recruitment, orientation and administration support of the volunteers. I have learnt about particular programs such as the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS).

The Gap

I have given my time to help in the Prep and Grade 1 classrooms in literacy and mathematics and I have also attended excursions and supervised children at the swimming pool. I enjoy interacting and helping the children.

I communicate effectively with schools, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physiologists, chiropractors, SPELD and tutors to organise appointments and meetings. I have prepared correspondence for some of these meetings. I have used my negotiation skills in difficult situations when dealing with school principals, and special education officers..

I provide help to students with learning difficulties. I applied my knowledge to help these children to gain results. I used my empathy and patient nature to support these students through difficult times.
