BigFuture reaches over 7M students each year and is the leading free resource for College, Scholarship, and Career Exploration. BigFuture allows students to demystify the college going process, unlock options to afford college, and explore careers that connect to their skills and interests. In addition to the student facing platform, the team manages a service that fosters rich interactions between students and over 1,500 Higher Education institutions. These institutions look across the 25,000 high schools to round out their classes and reach a broad student population. BigFuture is an 80-person team and collaborates deeply with other divisions including Sales, Marketing, Communications, Finance, Technology, Legal, and Strategic Higher Education.College Board Search is one of the strongest mission plays at the College Board and just celebrated it’s 50-year anniversary. Students that are connected to Search receive 29% more offers of admission with a great deal of insight into the programs and universities where they choose to apply.As the Senior Director, College Board Search, I am committed to the mission of the College Board and the access that College Board Search provides for millions of students to colleges and universities globally. I am the program manager and policy leader for College Board Search, working in partnership with our Vice President, Enrollment Solutions. I am a culture driver across the College Board units and a collaborative partner to organizational leaders. Specifically, I manage Operational Oversight of Student Search Service, Search Data Management, and Search Program Team Collaboration. I am dedicated to the development, growth and success of Search, our HE partners and the students we serve.

The Recruitment and Enrollment Solutions (RES) team is made up of 15 dedicated professionals with a laser focus on the sales and support of College Board’s market leading Search solutions. Through consultative sales and customer success management methodologies, we serve over 1,500 institutions each year, helping them to optimize their use of College Board Search to realize their desired outcomes and objectives.

Early in 2021, I have been lucky enough to shift gears to a role focused on Student Search and helping colleges and universities recruit and enroll students.

In fall of 2016, I switched gears from an institution to the College Board where I now am fortunate enough to work with colleges, universities and states/systems across the east coast on recruitment strategies and services to maximize enrollment goals and student success. I specifically serve as the point of contact for anything related to the SAT Suite of Assessments, AP, Landscape and College Board Search for a variety of constituencies. In 2008, Capital underwent significant changes in leadership across the entire University. I began my directorship under a brand new VP and AVP, and together, we identified issues within the admission processing. In a short amount of time, I was tasked with writing an entire comprehensive communication plan from scratch; developing a written strategy for student search name buys; quickly analyzing fall travel plans and territory management practices; learning a new predictive modeling software and creating additional qualifying codes for inquiries; and overhauling several major communication pieces. It was the best learning experience I have ever had and quickly taught me how to be an effective strategist and change-agent. It also gave me the foundation I needed to continue to grow and enhance all of these efforts each cycle. Our comprehensive communication flow was ever-evolving and became more customized as time goes on. It addressed the personalized interests and needs of each prospective student at every stage of the admission funnel. It is one of the accomplishments I am most proud of at Capital as I feel the messages used to attract students during the admission process were the key contributors to our “recruit to retain” philosophy and helped to ensure a positive first-year experience for all when done well. At the end of the day, my main driving force was results. In 2010, Capital achieved the largest undergraduate class in University history, exceeding the goal by more than 100 students. And we did not trade quality for quantity as the record class also boasted the highest academic averages in more than 10 years. In 2014, we achieved the second largest class in university history (while still growing quality and both ethnic and geographic diversity) in a climate when many private universities were struggling to meet goals. I credit many factors but most of all my team of outstanding admission professionals. I was promoted to AVP in January 2016.

Little did I know that my college work-study job would turn into a career that I love. From giving tours, to stuffing mail to answering phones, I quickly fell in love with the field of college admissions; with the feeling that I could make a difference in someone's life by helping them find that gut feeling that a school was a place they could call home. So when a position opened up in the Capital Admission Office after I graduated with my bachelor's degree, I jumped at the chance to apply. Unfortunately, I was the runner-up for the position to the person that is now my husband (another story for another day!) but luckily, another position opened up later that fall and I made the easiest decision of my life to take on the role of an admission counselor. From this time forward, I knew I had found my career. I literally could not wait to come into work each day. I loved the fast-paced environment, the excitement of goals and milestones, meeting with families, planning recruitment events, supervising students and everything else that came my way! I also loved the marketing aspect and communications quickly became a passion of mine, hence the comprehensive communication plan that has become a legacy for me at the institution. Simply put, I loved being an admission counselor and love that I now have the opportunity to supervise others in this exciting role.
