About Amanda Tan
A sociologist at heart, I particularly enjoy cross-disciplinary discussions, innovative thinking and problem solving. Broadly speaking, I have a breadth of interests that spans across writing and communication, social issues, clinical linguistics, rehabilitation, neuroscience/neurophysiology, technology and AI/ML. My nonlinear perspective is shaped by mentors and friends who were mavericks of their time – it’s a privilege that I am always grateful for.At present, I engage in research that revolves around neurotechnology, predictive and signal analytics, and machine learning techniques. I also provide educational therapy to individuals with special needs and am involved in the rehabilitation of individuals with visual dysfunction. This builds on my previous experience in the instruction and intervention of students from primary to tertiary levels (both typically developing and those with special needs). I look to gain further expertise in the fields of cognitive and physiological health, special needs and education [developmental and the geriatric population]. I have special interest in health technologies for rehabilitation and ageing cognition. Currently, I am seeking opportunities to deepen my knowledge and exposure to Intellectual Property, venture management and partnership building.
