Special Education and Rehabilitation

1. Academic and writing instruction• I specialise in the instruction of different genres of writing (academic, argumentative/discursive, expository, narrative) from primary to tertiary levels.• I am competent in the instruction of logical reasoning and fallacies in academic writing and rhetoric. I facilitate weekly discussions of themes revolving around current affairs and societal issues to promote critical and community-centric thinking.• Others: I am well-versed in the Singaporean education system and its requirements of examinations across all streams. I also provide explicit instruction of grammar/syntax/semantics for components in the English paper 2.2. Literacy and math interventionI taught a diverse group of students - from 6 years to 18 years - with diagnoses of special educational needs (e.g. dyslexia, dyscalculia, DLD, DCD, ADHD, Autism etc.) across all functioning levels and streams (Primary – Foundation and Standard, NT, NA and Express, IB, Northlight).•Alongside with my competence in Orton-Gillingham methodology, phonological and morphological intervention approaches, I pioneered alternative approaches that resulted in the successful remediation of “treatment-resisting” clients who do not respond to conventional literacy – phonics, whole-word nor morphological intervention – or math intervention. •I spearheaded the Sec 1 NT mathematics intervention initiative at Temasek Secondary School in 2020. Pre and post-tests indicate an average improvement of 29.5% in academic performance and an increase of 66.7% in passing rate.3.Cognitive and sensorial profilingOne of my areas of expertise is to profile complicated cases that resist typical educational intervention. I worked with an interdisciplinary team of Psychologists, SLTs, OTs, VTs to determine the most effective intervention approach by incorporating data-driven decision making via the utilisation of psychological and rehabilitation data.

• I engineered the General Paper package for 480 students through month-long research endeavours of current affairs articles and related theories.• I was the chief evaluator of Project Work proposals for 100 J1 students.
