Amanda Vickery is the Director and sole Occupational Therapist at The Feeding OT. She has a passion for food, curious feeders, happy mealtimes and reaching for healthy living while nurturing and empowering the important relationship between parent/caregiver and child.Amanda graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Health Science (Occ. Therapy) in 2001 and has worked in clinical OT and management roles with children and families across a number of services in Sydney, South Australia, the United Kingdom and in her home town of Newcastle, including the John Hunter Children’s Hospital Feeding Clinic. Amanda’s approach to Occupational Therapy and Feeding can be explained as ‘responsive’ and involves meeting the child and family where they are comfortable and following their lead, empowering them to work toward and reach their goals, whether this be to reduce anxiety around mealtimes, increase food variety, improve enjoyment of different textures, or to develop skills to explore and learn about new foods.
