I am a writer and creative. I imagine, develop ideas, find solutions, innovate, and design.In 2020, I exchanged my creative medium from the built environment for stories and words. I love the process of transformation, be it an idea, a story or a space. I enjoy witnessing the metamorphosis of something when nurtured by imagination.Rather than accepting an offer to study Journalism at Macquarie University after high school, I moved to London in search of new experiences and adventure. The next three years in my twenties were spent travelling through Europe, India, and Southeast Asia, attempting to ‘find myself.’ Instead, I found a love and appreciation for architecture and design. On my return to Australia, I enrolled in an Advanced Diploma in Interior Design, which I completed in 2008. I went on to have a successful career in the industry for over ten years.After becoming a mother, my priorities shifted. Design work flexible enough to allow me to prioritise time with my young children was no longer creatively fulfilling. I became increasingly aware that my true calling was writing. A Professional Freelance Journalism course through Morris Journalism Academy confirmed this for me. I committed to a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Writing and Publishing through Curtin University to gain the qualifications necessary to embark on a new career.My long-term goal is to combine my love of both writing and travel. Travel has significantly influenced my life, often moving cities, countries, and schools during my childhood, developing a curious mind and a love of adventure. As an adult, travel remains an enduring source of fulfilment and joy. I enjoy reading, experimenting in the kitchen, cooking nourishing food for my family, travelling, eating out, and the arts—all of which are areas I enjoy writing about.My greatest accomplishments are my two primary school-aged children. My most recent role, mother and family CEO, has been held for the last six years while I juggled the demands of a bachelor’s degree. No other role has developed as many and varied skills and capabilities. Motherhood has equipped me with organisational, time management, strategic thinking, communication, resourcefulness, patience, empathy, and negotiation skills.My self-identity, wrapped up in motherhood, has begun to dilate over the last four years. Experimenting with various writing forms has helped me rediscover my ambitions and passions, nurture other facets of my identity, and find my voice as a writer.
