My dog and I are deployed on placements within our community to retirement villages, visiting older adults. This is a way for me to give back to my community. After studying Nursing, it has made me realise that, giving back to your community is one of the most heart warming experiences on will have. With older adults, they are wanting someone to talk to or something to pet - which is something I am more than happy to offer them.

My main role is looking after our store’s dispatching / online processes and to investigate discrepancies or stores that are underperforming. I run daily / weekly / monthly reports for the stores that include the performance of the stores dispatching processes, analyse courier freight charges, and think of different ways to improve dispatch company wide.

I have two job roles at Bailey Nelson. As an eyewear stylist I am in store and insuring that customers glasses are fashionable, what they are wanting and also can work with their prescription. I am in charge of greeting customers, style customers in frames, making sure all stock in store are clean and setting up the store for the day.As the New Zealand Online Advisor, I am in charge of anything online, via the Bailey Nelson website. Here I oversee the orders, online enquiry, problem solving, couriering orders to the customers, the website and making sure that the correct stock and photos is available online. I am in charge of re-merchandising the website, Shopify software in the backend, basic HTML and working very closely with the Australia support office, which include meetings every week.

Monty & Mates is a local doggy day care business. As Founder, my role is to over see all the clients, meeting and building relationships with stakeholders, walking the dogs, management of calendar, marketing, advertising, running multiple social media sites, lastly and most importantly looking after my clients dogs. I uphold my local business name by giving the best care to my clients dogs whilst building rapport with my clients. Running a business alongside my studies and part time work shows I am more than capable to take a full work load on as well as managing my own time.

Maintaining a part time job whilst studying full time shows my determination and time management in succeeding in both areas. As a sales assistance I must have the fundament knowledge of how optics work. From frame styling customers to dispensing their glasses using optical measurements and teaching customers about not only their lenses but teaching customers how to wear contact lenses. Growing in this industry allows me to have a better understanding of how the eye works and having a gateway in to the health care sector.In this role I have had to be in charge of the reception/administrating, the front face of the store, cash handling, pre-testing patients and putting through optic measurements once the customer has decided on the frame they are wanting.

Working in this role for nearly 2 years has shown that I am capable as a student to stay committed in a part time job. Big part of this job was to greet customers and cash handling for the store. I was also in charge of the self operating machines, this would mean checking individuals ID’s and making sure people did not steal.Being the face of the company meant that you are possibly the first and last point of contact for the customer throughout their journey. Therefore, I upheld a bright and warming front so customers felt comfortable to approach me.
