My career has centered on planetary science, teaching, and organizational excellence, so it is deeplyexciting for me to lead Lowell Observatory in its next phase of astronomical research, scientific innovation, public education, community engagement, and growth.Building on my own scientific background, I have profound respect for the research and breakthroughs that Lowell scientists pursue year in and year out, as well as for our unique resources, facilities, instruments, and teams. I am a staunch supporter of continued research investments and collaborations.Given my experience as an educator, public education and outreach are also close to my heart. In my early days here, I co-founded the Native American Astronomy Outreach Program, and more recently, I’ve led the project to open the new Astronomy Discovery Center (ADC). These are just two examples of initiatives to connect people of all ages and backgrounds to our globally significant work. At the same time, I recognize the Observatory’s important place in the Flagstaff community and pledge to continue building relationships throughout our communities.I have been part of the Lowell Observatory family for many years, including as a researcher, OperationsManager, ADC Project Director, and Chief Operating Officer. I served earlier in my career at MIT as anaward-winning lecturer, researcher, advisor, and member of numerous task forces, committees, andboards to improve outcomes for students and the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and PlanetarySciences.In addition to a PhD in Planetary Science, my education includes an MBA (in progress), reflecting my dual commitment to advancing both science and organizational success and impact.I am a first-generation college graduate (first in my family to attend college), a native New Englander, andan astrophotographer. Things I love include: the night sky, observational astronomy, professionalmentoring, planning, collaboration, and in non-work time, animal rescue.
