Amanda K. Bruner works in CNA’s Center for Justice Research Innovation as a crime analysis advisor supporting the Crime Analyst in Residence (CAR), Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), and Public Safety Partnership (PSP) grant programs, all of which are federally funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). In this role, Bruner provides crime analysis training and technical assistance to nearly two dozen law enforcement agencies across the United States, ranging from small and mid-sized departments to large urban organizations. Before joining CNA, Bruner served as the first crime analyst for the Matthews (North Carolina) Police Department, where, in accordance with the Stratified Policing Model, she provided action- and evaluation-oriented products to police personnel to support proactive crime reduction. She was previously a corporate intelligence specialist for Bank of America and is currently an adjunct criminal justice professor concentrating in crime analysis at Radford University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Bruner is the President of the Carolinas Crime Analysis Association (CCAA), a Membership Committee volunteer for the International Association of Crime Analysis (IACA), and a member of, and former Treasurer for, the Carolinas Chapter of the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts (IALEIA). Bruner was recently elected as President of IACA and will officially assume the role in January 2025.Bruner graduated with both a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in law enforcement intelligence and analysis from Michigan State University. Bruner has presented on stratified policing, automation, dashboards, pattern identification, link analysis, and more at various conferences across the nation. Her work appears throughout "Crime Analysis with Crime Mapping," written by Dr. Rachel Santos (5th ed., Sage Publications, 2022), and she has been featured in an episode of “Analyst Talk with Jason Elder” (LEAPodcasts). Bruner holds a certificate in data analytics from Google and is certified as both a Power Platform Functional Consultant Associate and a Power Platform Solution Architect Expert by Microsoft. She is also a recipient of the 2024 IALEIA Individual Award for Excellence and a nominee for the 2024 IACA Membership Award.
