Led web design projects for the agency during my time at Ashton. I also had a hand in designing identities, publications, and environmental graphics—all for local and regional clients. I managed and scheduled projects, handled client correspondence, and assisted with marketing and proposals. Guided interns and junior designers. Worked closely with developers, fabricators, and printers throughout projects. Earlier in my career, I specialized in identities, print media, and information design. As an independent designer, I created editorial infographics for multiple publications and within the Making Policy Public program at Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP). This was truly a dream job. As a Senior Designer for the 2012 re-election campaign, I created infographics, print work, websites, social media share graphics, identities, and illustrations to help re-elect President Obama. I collaborated within the design team, as well as with policy, development, and outbound teams on rapid-response projects with tremendous impact and reach.After the election, I worked with the Presidential Inaugural Committee on graphics for the Inauguration, and then as a designer for OFA's rebirth as Organizing for Action, which advocated for the policies and agenda Americans voted for on Election Day 2012.

My first experience in art/design education was with this fantastic non-profit. I assisted printmaking, typography, and drawing classes for 6th–12th graders.

Greensboro, Alabama

I graduated from undergrad right into the 2008 recession and jobs were sparse. Being thrown off of a conventional path, I started freelancing and joined Project M, a program for creative people who are inspired to contribute to the greater good. That experience led to PieLab—which I cofounded with other Project M designers and H.E.R.O. (a local nonprofit in Hale County, Alabama). PieLab is a welcoming community space and pie shop focused on economic revitalization and job training in Hale County, AL.I helped develop the mission and set specific project and program goals. I planned and coordinated fundraisers, 12 entrepreneurial workshops, and cultural and community events around the state. In collaboration with coworkers, I designed and constructed pie shop space and signage with salvaged materials, as well as our original website, products, merchandise, and communication materials. I also managed email correspondence, PR, and press requests.A notable project completed at PieLab is Pecans!, for which we won a Design Ignites Change grant. For the Pecans! project, I guided students in YouthBuild—a non-profit which provides education, counseling, and job skills to unemployed young adults­—in starting a small business utilizing a local resource. I co-led creative concept, packaging design, and screenprinting workshops with students; co-designed labels and tags for pecan butter and pecan brittle; managed students and participated in the production of pecan products; and marketed products online and in regional stores.

I designed Ologie marketing materials with partners and creative director and assisted with brand strategy, design, client relations, and production for work in financial, nonprofit, and higher-ed sectors.

As a designer for the studio of Ohio State University’s Communication Technology Scholars Program, I created print and web designs for Ohio State's Honors and Scholars center.
