Conducting research, synthesizing, analyzing and presenting information to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors to support ongoing updates to the Albemarle County Code

Providing full time staff support to the Livable Communities Planning Project, a coordinated long range planning effort involving Albemarle County, the City of Charlottesville, the University of Virginia, and the Charlottesville-Albemarle Metropolitan Planning Organization. Assisting Charlottesville & Albemarle County planning staff with public outreach related to their Comprehensive Plan update efforts. Responsible for project-related communications, including design of public information, managing project website (1-community.org), and regularly updating project blog and social media.

Responsible for day-to-day operations of the organization, including oversight of staff, interns, and volunteers; project management; fundraising; marketing; financial planning; and project development. Worked to fulfill CCDC’s mission of engaging citizens in visualizing and shaping the future of Charlottesville through collaboration with local design professionals, the City of Charlottesville, the University of Virginia School of Architecture, and local nonprofits. Led Board of Directors to complete a two-year strategic planning process.Led community workshops to inform the conceptual design of two mixed-income infill neighborhoods in Crozet and Charlottesville. Curated and produced educational exhibitions focusing on local development issues and best practices in planning and design. Organized and hosted CCDC’s annual Design Marathon 2008-2010. Oversaw the development, launch and implementation of SPARK!, a pilot residential energy efficiency program in the City of Charlottesville. Responsible for the content and management of CCDC’s website, Facebook page, weekly enewsletter and periodic press releases.

Lewisburg, Pa

Lead planner to project team implementing Valley Vision 2020, a long range land use, transportation and economic development plan for an 11 county region. Worked with mayor, city staff and local citizens in Williamsport, PA to produce two neighborhood revitalization plans and master plans for five city parks. Generated design concepts for a multi-municipal network of walking paths, bike routes and open space in the Warrior Run School District. Developed and coordinated a 10-county Buy Fresh Buy Local campaign to elevate awareness of and increase economic opportunity for agricultural producers in the Susquehanna Valley.
