Cool it Art is a Social Enterprise, focussing on creating art out of household junk, running classes for 3-12 year olds.- Cool it Art was awarded funding to run classes for 6 weeks at the Vauxhall Garden Community Centre in June 2013 by Well London- July 2013, to run a 4 week course in Stockwell by Amicus Horizon - November 2013, to run a 10 month course at the Vauxhall Gardens Community centre - April 2014, to run a one week intensive Summer Art academy for residents of the Vauxhall Gardens Estate by Well London.

I have been working as a Community Artist since graduating with a BA hons in Fine Art (painting) from City and Guilds of London Art School in 2009. I have worked in schools, festivals, commercial venues and national institutions, creating multi-sensory installations and collaborative artworks.I like to create artworks that explore different themes such as environmental issues, subjects that reflect the school curriculum and wider cultural narratives. I enjoy using diverse mediums and materials from installation, sound, 3D modelling, paint, fabric and recycled junk.I have experience of working with primary and secondary school children including those with special needs. I also enjoy working with adults. I have just completed a course in association with Creative Partnerships "My Creativity, Your Creativity" exploring creativity and the role of an art facilitator at Sussex University.

amandacallis.com was launched in 2010 with the aim to provide limited edition, artist designed t-shirts which are environmentally friendly too!Not everyone has the wall space for limited edition prints, or the money....However everyone needs clothes which are affordable, unless you are a nudist..but we also sell bags!Our choice in clothes often defines our sense of style or mood, so the combination of art and t-shirts/accessories seemed a good choice!

I have been working for Cool it Schools since it started on a variety of projects in schools, at festivals and one day events in Shops or Parks.From starting as a student mentor in 2009 whilst I was still studying my BA in Fine Art to now Project Leading the Big Hairy Bug Draw in 2011 and 2012, I have been involved in a lot of Cool it Schools fascinating projects such as the ones listed below.

Tufnell Park

I have been involved in setting up, organising and running free art classes in Tufnell Park for local children. I have been responsible for all admin, liaising with the other session leaders for their session plans, time managing the project, finding sponsorship from art material suppliers, advertising and devising all the correct protocols that need to be in place such as safeguarding children. As well as managing the project I also work as a session leader running “upcycling junk” workshops for 3-12 year olds.
