Summer employment for concerts at Jones Beach Theater. This experience allows me to utilize my communication skills in a customer service setting.

I teach approximately 200 students in the subjects of General Music and Band. Due to the diversity among my students, I teach bilingually in most of my classes (English and Spanish). My General Music classes use a curriculum which addresses topics such as: instrument identification, note reading, and playing the recorder. (The latter decision was made based on the funding we have available for the program).My Band classes are learning arrangements of pop music that I have written to cater to both my students' abilities and their instrument's abilities. Students are provided with practice mp3s, so that they can learn their music at a slower speed, while simultaneously hearing how their part fits in with the rest of the band. Students are offered one-on-one instruction both during and after class to facilitate learning. Due to the extent of the instrument damage in the program that I inherited at FHS, I decided to take advantage of a great program with a NYC DOE vendor. This program helped clear out our broken instruments and gave us repair credit to fix some of our "sort of working" instruments. This program really gave my students hope that they can, in fact, have the opportunity to play on nice instruments.

Created interactive, engaging lessons for weekly 30-minute music time for five classes, with students' ages three to five years old. Introduced topics such as solfege during this time.Designed and initiated an innovated composition unit utilizing the children's book, Goodnight Owl. Students demonstrated their animal sounds in a final play performance, attended by teachers, parents, andother relatives. Based on the revies and audience feedback, it was a huge success.Demonstrated and defined different instrument families, including an instrument petting zoo.

Mentor Teachers: Mr. Matthew Bufis and Mr. Mike Lehman- Designed lesson plans and taught small group lessons to all wind students.- Prepared and conducted full ensemble and sectional rehearsals for one performance.- Directed the 9th grade Concert Band and the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade Symphonic Band to achieve a high level of measurable and audible success, while emphasizing a curriculum that addresses the artistic processes of performance, knowledge, and creativity.- Facilitated Band Day, where over 300 students from 5 middle schools experience Evanston Township High School's Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Marching Band.- Led and coached jazz combos, the jazz band, and the top big band, while taking owneship of several jazz charts for performance.- Generated a set of pep band binders that the program can re-use annually.- Assisted in teaching an American Studies course, Guitar I class, and AP Music Theory.
