I monitored Sandy Neck Beach during the summer of 2010 and I am currently working with data to answer conservation questions relating to the nesting and chick survival of Piping plovers. • Management of Coastal Species Conservation - Monitored threatened and endangered shorebirds, including Piping Plovers, Least Terns and Common Terns. Erected predator exclosures. Assisted with monitoring of diamond back terrapin, including tracking, data collection and hatchling release. • Data collection and analysis - Collected nesting data and productivity data for piping plovers through monitoring and use of GPS and dataloggers, coordinated remote video monitoring. Developed data collection methods for least tern colonies. Analyzed data and submitted annual state reports. • Consultation - advised beach park management for opening and closures of beachfront and trails.• Public Education - Educated beach-goers and participated in design of junior rangers program about conservation of coastal species. • Operated and maintained all-terrain vehicles, worked in inclement weather and conditions including weekend and holiday hours.
