About Amanda Ellis

I’ve always been a storyteller. Whether it’s a funny, relatable snippet of my life or something more serious, stories - and people - make life and work colorful, meaningful and impactful. In my current role with Livability, I'm our resident expert on talent attraction and workforce. I tell the stories of what communities are doing to become talent magnets, plus share other economic development case studies and best practices via our industry content for economic development, chamber of commerce and talent attraction professionals. That includes hosting our "Inside America’s Best Cities" podcast, penning thought leadership pieces and overseeing research on American relocation habits. This work allows me to keep a pulse on the talent and work landscape, and in the years following the pandemic, that has certainly been quite the ride! I also serve as Editor in Chief of Livability.com, a relocation and places resource reaching millions of people every year with content about our nation’s small and mid-sized cities and why they’re great places to live.Combining my expertise in talent attraction and retention strategy with my work covering communities across the U.S., I speak around the country on talent and relocation trends, community marketing and loving where you live. Prior to my time with Livability, I spent nearly eight years in the chamber of commerce world with the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce. I frequently draw on my time there marketing our region as a top location for business and talent, to inspire the work I do now. In my spare time, find me delving into some historical fiction, being a neat freak or plotting my next travel adventure. I'm also a ballet enthusiast after spending time as a serious dance student growing up. For samples of my work and more about me, visit amandaellis.weebly.com.
