This certification denotes an advanced level of cycling training certified by USA Cycling. Coaches with this certification level have extensive knowledge of bike handling skills; a better understanding of the physiological stresses and adaptations the body endures through training; and how to utilize these stresses and adaptations in writing a more succinct training plan for their athletes.

The level 3 coach is the entry level certification. Coaches complete a home study course and take an exam. Level 3 serves as an introduction to coaching cyclists.
