I am determined to have a positive impact on the health and conservation of all marine species through unwavering commitment and creative problem solving.I graduated in 2022 from Adams State University with a Bachelor’s in Biology. My emphasis was in animal behavior and Ichthyology. I am currently in my last semester of college to become a certified veterinary technician at Penn Foster College. I also hold certifications in CPR administration and Open Water SCUBA diving. At my most recent job in the veterinary field, I worked as a veterinary technician and lab overseer in a mixed practice of large, small, and exotic animals. My daily tasks involved surgery monitoring, lab sample submission and daily appointments. With dual roles, it was imperative to have good record keeping skills of current in-patients, food and medication administration, lab submissions, and test results. I made sure to record these aspects in a timely manner and with the utmost accuracy. I have also volunteered for the last two years at my local aquarium maintaining three separate tanks. My primary tasks were to prepare food rations, tank dive to hand feed sturgeons, and clean the interior of the tank. On occasion, I participated in health checks with the staff and alerted workers of unhealthy animals. I am currently participating in the animal care internship at Island Dolphin Care where I am involved in husbandry tasks, animal enrichment and assisting in training for seven bottlenose dolphins at the facility. I am also developing my skills in the veterinary field, assisting in lab sampling and submission of blood, gastrics and chuffs.
