Transmitting Shipment Data to Canada Customs. worked the night shift with just me and another guy they hired to help me. Was very low key--not many interactions with the bosses or other staff and not much call for interactions with the customer. When it was needed we had dealings with the drivers or their dispatchers and on rare occasion with customs but mostly it was just us and our computers.

Awesome job. A lot of freedom working on the road. New people, new faces all the time. Only down side was it was seasonal.

This was an ER-like setting because with a bird its almost always an emergency. We had patients come in for visits with the doc, as well as upwards of 30 birds in house either boarding or hospitalized. I was the head daytime tech as well as the resident reptile expert. My boss sent me to the Western Vet Con in Vegas once for their reptile seminars - bless her! I had a great time and I didn't even gamble LOL.I was run ragged and close to burn out and my boss was a very "demanding" woman ;) but gosh darn it--I loved this job! It was my all time favorite and I was extremely competent at it. I left over issues with a new staff member who could not get over my being younger than her and yet senior to her. My boss was a genius when it came to Avian Medicine and although we had our differences I respected her greatly but unfortunately she was not very good at people management and the situation with the new staff member was the stress that broke this vet techs back.
