Taught Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II to high school students using discovery learning, a method of inquiry-based instruction where students discover new topics on their own and cooperative learning, where students must work in groups to complete tasks collectively toward academic goals.Leadership Experience:• Presented and received approval to pioneer the only program of its kind in the Marysville Math Department using a method entitled “the flipped classroom”. Students watched online lectures outside the classroom then practiced what they learn with teacher support in the classroom. With this program, students achieved at a higher level of learning as compared to students learning the same curriculum through a different teaching method.• Established and served as the head coach of the Marysville Girls Lacrosse Program by forming the first high school varsity and junior varsity teams. Created the team from the ground up by acquiring qualified assistant coaches, recruiting players, scheduling games and practices, developing team philosophies, creating practice plans, and teaching 35-40 high school girls the game of lacrosse as well as respect for each other and the game.• Led department’s transition of our Algebra I course to the new Common Core State Standards. Selected to direct a team in formulating a comprehensive curriculum map and creating assessments based on the standards to support teaching the course.Highlights:• Led a team of four peer teachers to design a course’s new curriculum• Coordinated all assistant coaches’ responsibilities, team scheduling, equipment procurement, and secured field and fitness resources• Responsible for overseeing team budget of $6-10K annually

Taught Fundamental Algebra I, Fundamental Algebra II, and Fundamental Geometry to high school students incorporating technology into lessons such as Microsoft PowerPoint, graphing calculators, and student computer labs.Leadership Experience:• Volunteered as head representative on the District Levy Committee. Led staff members and volunteers in the campaign to support our schools. Coordinated “Adopt-a-Voter” drives, literature drops, and gathered volunteers to call voters the night before Election Day.• Served on the Course Curriculum Development Committee for the new fourth-year math course creating a curriculum map featuring topics, standards, keywords, resources and real-world applications.• Volunteered as Ski-Club advisor responsible for organizing the club and for supervising over forty students on weekly bus trips to the local ski resort.Highlights:• Directed over 130 volunteers to support our district’s levy campaign• Curated over 12 chapters of lesson activities and assessments for the new fourth-year math course• Accountable for Ski-Club’s administration duties, including managing the $8K budget
