Testing CRISPR genome editing as a potential therapy for Best disease.
Ucl Sensory System And Therapies In Stem Cell Biology Fellowship, Ucl Institute Of Ophthalmology
Using induced pluripotent stem cells to study Bestrophinopathies, a group of inherited diseases that affect the retinal pigment epithelium.
Senior Post Doctoral Research Associate, Ucl Institute Of Ophthalmology
Working with Professor Pete Coffey for the London Project to Cure Blindness developing methods to make induced pluripotent stem cells from patients. We developed stem cell bank containing containing samples from patients with retinal dystrophies and age-related macular degeneration. Using patient induced pluripotent stem cells we were able to generate the retina cells affected by disease, allowing us to study eye disease in a dish.
Post Doctoral Research Associate, Ucl Institute Of Ophthalmology
Working with Professor Pete Coffey as part the London Project to Cure Blindness team. We developed a cell therapy for age-related macular degeneration using human embryonic stem cells. We developed methods to generate retinal pigment epithelial cells, testing the safety and efficacy of cells and developing GMP protocols for delivery of cells into patients.
Post-Doctoral Research Associate, Ucl Institute Of Ophthalmology
Working with Professors John Greenwood, Steve Moss and Pete Coffey.Using the human retinal pigment epithelium cell line, ARPE-19, as a cell model to look at transdifferentiation of RPE cells towards a neuroretinal/photoreceptor phenotype.
Post-Doctoral Research Associate, Ucl Department Of Anatomy And Developmental Biology
Working with Dr David Whitmore studying circadian rhythms in zebrafish.Established single cell imaging methods to show that individual cells are capable of measuring circadian time, dispelling the previous hypothesis that circadian rhythmicity is driven by a central master clock.
