Markham Ontario

Coordinated the Adapted Aquatics Learn to Swim Program at Centennial Pool. Recruited, trained and supervised over 30 volunteers who provided 1-1 support to children living with a variety of developmental and physical challenges. Developed individualized programs for each participant to ensure their individual growth goals were being met. Taught aquatic rescue skills as an advanced leadership swimming instructor. Provided swimming lessons to candidates whose abilities ranged from beginner to advanced leadership levels. This included the Lifesaving Society of Canada’s Bronze Cross certification as well as the National Lifeguard Certification. Provided candidates with a forum for success by using a variety of innovative and hands on teaching tools. .

Participated in the daily operations of the onboard youth facilities by ensuring that the guests and their children were safe and well cared for during their vacation. Worked in the children’s program overseeing high-paced and energetic activities such as Scientists on the Seas (In partnership with California Institute of Science), Kids in the Kitchen, Disco parties, Movies under the Stars, Ice Cream Socials, Arts and Crafts activities. Supervise port day activities for children who remained on board while the ship was in dock. Ensured that a safe and engaging environment was created that was enjoyable and met the needs of all passengers.
