I cater to a wide range of clients and thus maintain a TB/Brucellosis Accredited/Certified herd, a certified scrapie-free herd and have tested negative for CAE for 30 years. I have been a member of the American Dairy Goat Association since 1987. I am Now President-elect and have also served as President & Vice President of the Georgia Dairy Goat Breeders Association (GDGBA) for many of the 30 years that I have been involved with dairy goats. My husband and I are also editors of the GDGBA newsletter.

    I am participating in a 4 yr NSF grant -the LISELL-B project (Language-Rich Inquiry Science with English Language Learners through Biotechnology) which is aimed at understanding and supporting the teaching of science, engineering & academic language development of middle and high school students with a special emphasis on English language learners (ELLs) (Latinos). Each summer we will be holding Academies both for teachers and students. For the teacher academy, the teachers (30) will be trained in activities based on biotechnology and then the next 2 weeks, they will then mentor the students during the student academy where students (60 grades 6-9th) will repeat the teacher biotechnology based activities and will also have additional activities which will focus on language, career, college etc. During the school year, we will be holding Sat morn. academies which will include the students, their families and their teachers.

During my tenure, I was the manager of their GMP protein processing facility, performed surgical procedures on chickens, developed SOP's and protocols, developed a chicken semen freezing protocol which lead to the regeneration of lines of transgenic birds that were deceased, performed experiements for R&D, protein purification, DNA manipulation, ran routine assays-ELISA and LD tests.
