If you asked 15-year-old Amanda what she wanted to be when she “grew up”, she wouldn’t have known. If you ask me today what I want to be when I “grow up”, I still don’t know! What am I doing if I don’t have a goal? My goal is to always be learning, growing and enjoying. Some would say a leader is developed, not born, unless you are talking about me! I was the first born of a twin set and was always the “bossy one” of the pair (still am!). I told my sister what we were doing, when we were doing it, and why! Through the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration, I changed bossy into leadership. But don’t let the fun-loving and goofy spirit fool you, I mean business! My leadership style can be summed up in one word: YES. Clean a toilet? Absolutely. Stayover during a snowstorm? You bet. Unload and exchange mattresses? Don’t even ask me twice! Teamwork and finding a way to say YES is what separates this bossy kid from an emerging leader.

In February 2017, the hotel was successfully purchased by Hersha Trust and I worked closely with the asset management and revenue team in the transition of the hotel.
