Along with being a Public Relations student at the University of North Florida, I’m also an extrovert and self-professed people person. When I began working as a promotions specialist in 2016 I found a passion for engaging and educating potential customers and clients. If someone hadn't heard of our products, I was the one to give them a first impression and took great pride in my ability to make it a stellar one. In that position I honed my ability to leave a meaningful impression on the client’s consumer and drive a positive brand relationship. With those skills I transitioned to working for brands online using social media. From creating relevant and exciting content for companies ranging from national restaurant chains and fashion brands to beauty services as well as promoting events and encouraging engagement through social channels, I gained invaluable experience in analyzing and appealing to target demographics. As a communications intern for the University of Florida Student Health I not only curated social media posts and blogs but prepared handout materials and planned tabling efforts at pertinent events and spaces on campus to increase awareness of services among students. Furthermore, as a social media intern for the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach, I facilitated meetings with local businesses for community outreach, event planning, and fundraising efforts. In this position I focused on content creation and branding while managing social media campaigns and contributed to planning events and future campaigns with the Center’s PR agency to foster community awareness and engagement. In my free time I mix public relations with pleasure by being an active member of the Jacksonville Yelp Elite Squad for the past 3 years, spreading the word about awesome local businesses. Engaging and educating began as my job description but has become a hobby to me. As a member of the Hive Society (formerly North Florida Influencers) and FlipperSplash, local marketing organizations, I continue to drive brand awareness and relationships to create and maintain a favorable public image for brands I work with. I believe any idea can flourish when the client can effectively show their audience what they’re looking for and I am excited to be a part of making that happen. As Daniel Boorstin once said: “some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some hire public relations officers.”
