Planning Studies and Technical Services, Facilities EngineeringMy main role is to complete power system studies for new connections to the Alberta power grid:- Power system planning studies using PSSE software to conduct load flow studies, short circuit analysis, and P-V analysis.- Study reports are submitted to the AESO (Alberta Electric System Operator) for evaluation and are part of the AESO Gates 2 and 3.- Created Project Data Update Packages (PDUP) for submission to the AESO as part of the AESO Gates 2, 3 and 5.

3rd Rotation in HVDC and FACTS Engineering in Edmonton, AB (EATL Project - Converter Stations). 2012 to May 2014.- Intermediate experience using power system and dynamic simulation software and analyzing their results for fault response/recovery times, and fundamental frequency overvoltages: PSCAD, PSSE, LiveWire, ibaAnalyzer- Participated in design reviews of high voltage DC system and associated apparatus- Pre-commissioning activities, witnessing of functional and dynamic performance testing of HVDC control systems including STATCOM.2nd Rotation in Transmission Engineering, Substation Primary - Apparatus in Edmonton, AB2011-2012- This role started with the specification and technically evaluation of substation primary apparatus all the way to managing lead times, delivery, and warranty issues until the equipment was commissioned on site.- Worked with vendors and manufacturers of different high-voltage substation equipment on various projects.- Represented the Apparatus group in a Controlled Documents team with a goal to document processes and procedures with a document management system.1st Rotation in Distribution Field Engineering, Operational Planning in Lloydminster, AB2010-2011- Built distribution power system models for several substations using CYMDist software- Conducted distribution system planning studies for customer projects including coordination of distribution protection devices.- Represented the SE Region at the ATCO Operational Planning Conference, and also chaired the conference in 2011.

My 4-month Co-op work term was on-site at Aurora, north of Fort McMurray. I was part of the Process Control and Automation department.
