• Worked with Dr. Edward Bouwer in the environmental engineering department to develop bioremediation technology to treat chlorobenzene contaminants from groundwater flowing toward land surfaces.• Designed and managed my own project to identify the specific pathways in which trichlorobenzene eventually degrades into benzene.• In the spring of 2016, developed my own project to test the effect of aerobic and anaerobic microbes on breaking down chlorobenzene using a granular activated carbon barrier.

• Conducted research as part of the Environmental Engineering Solutions for Pollution Prevention program, funded by the National Science Foundation.• Developed a system for copper removal from contaminated water by affixing a biologically-produced molecule, Yersiniabactin, to activated carbons with varying physical and chemical properties.• Presented at a poster session at the end of the internship to a panel of environmental and chemical engineering professors and graduate students.
